Caffè Nero is looking to tap into the booming high-protein drinks market through a new deal with Manchester-based protein shake maker Myprotein.
The coffee chain, which operates over 600 cafes across the UK, said two new high-protein lattes would be rolled out across its entire estate in partnership with the THG-owned fitness brand.
Neil Mistry, boss of THG Nutrition, said there were growing signs that demand for protein coffee was coming across the Atlantic to the UK.
“Protein lattes have already taken off in the US, and we know the appetite is here too: our customers already add protein to their coffee at home,” said Neil Mistry, boss of THG Nutrition. “Now, with Caffè Nero, they can order it in a latte or matcha on the high street, across more than 600 stores.”
The two drinks, Iced Vanilla Protein Matcha Latte and the Iced Vanilla Protein Latte, are both under 160 calories and provide 24 grams of protein and 25 grams of protein, respectively.
Retailers and confectionary brands including Krispy Kreme, Mars and Snickers have struck deals with Myprotein in recent years in an effort to capitalise on booming for fitness-focused foods.
The global high protein food market was valued at $55.38bnin 2026 and is projected to grow to $105.34 billion by 2034, according to Fortune Business Insights.
Caffè Nero said it expects to roll-out more products under the partnership in January.
Lysa Hardy, boss of Caffè Nero UK, said the additions “respond to growing customer demand for high-protein drinks.”
